Your role/responsibilities
We are the Local Authority’s secondary provision for Deaf students in West Suffolk.  As part of this resource, we require a flexible, conscientious and enthusiastic person to join our successful Learning Support team.  You will be supporting students with a range of communication preferences and a British Sign Language qualification is essential.

You will need:
You should have good literacy, numeracy, communication skills and experience of working in a secondary school environment would be an advantage but not essential.  The following experience and qualifications are desirable but again not essential when applying for the above position.

  • Working with young people who have emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Close working with students either on a 1 to 1 basis or in small groups
  • Supporting students identified as being on the autistic spectrum
  • Qualified BSL Level 1 and working towards (or aspiring to) Level 2
  • GCSE or a level 2 equivalent in Maths and English
